Overview / Product Description
Provides 10 manual power settings in half-stop increments for any "DS" model digital SubStrobe. The EV Manual Controller is not compatible with older, non-"DS" SubStrobes.
Any of our digital sync cords can be attached to the bulkhead on the EV Manual Controller; or the Controller also has a sensitive slave sensor allowing it to be triggered by another strobe. Simply point the Controller at a camera housing for dependable strobe triggering by the camera strobe without requiring fibre optic "sync cord" nonsense of other strobe systems.
The Controller attaches to the strobe and mounts near the housing, providing maximum versatility and control of flash exposure. It can be used with normal or pre-flash camera and strobe systems.
A second strobe with a Manual Controller can be set to any desired power and will operate dependably with the built-in slave sensor of the Controller aimed at the subject or the primary strobe; or the Controller can be connected to a dual sync cord.
The removable plug with coin slot provides access to two small switches that set the strobe and sync type.
Use "C" switch position for SubStrobe DS-125, DS-160 and DS-200. Use "D" position for the DS-50 and DS-51.
Slave sensor fires the strobe on every flash in "A"
The "B" setting is for use with pre-flash cameras. The Slave sensor ignores the first flash and fires on the next flash if it happens within a few micro seconds. Sensor will reset if no second flash is detected within the next prescribed time period. This means the strobe will not fire if used with a no-preflash camera in the "B" setting.
The Manual Controller derives its power from and can only be used with the gray DS series SubStrobes. The SubStrobe must be set to TTL mode when used with the Manual Controller to receive the predetermined quench signal for the power chosen.
The permanently attached sync cord of the Manual Controller attaches to and can operate only one strobe. Newest production models replace "A" - "D" designations with strobe numbers, "P" for preflash, and "P" with an X through it for non preflash.
