Ikelite Underwater Housing for Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV Compact Camera

This sophisticated housing provides everything you need to get creative with this powerful compact camera! Ikelite recommends this system for its excellent low-light capabilities and super-sharp, 24-70mm Zeiss lens.

Camera Compatibility
The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 Mark IV differs from the III slightly in camera thickness. The newer Mark IV camera can be used in the previous housing version made for the Mark III, Product Number 6116.12. All controls are operable in this installation with the exception of the rear control dial, which must be set to the inactive position. The rear dial control may be adjusted for the Mark IV camera by installing a washer underneath the control knob. Adjustment washers may be purchased through an Authorized Ikelite Dealer.

This newer housing features improved ergonomics like a front-loading camera system and improved rear dial control. Continue reading for a full explanation of new features.

The RX100 Mark III can be used in this housing with the exception of the rear control dial. Older RX100 Mark I and Mark II cameras are not usable in this housing due to differences in lens and control placement.

Ergonomics
A new slide-in, front loading camera mounting tray makes this housing a breeze to set up and shoot. Controls are provided for all important camera functions including a re-designed, spring loaded rear dial control. Rear push button controls are laser engraved for identification with a new bright red push button for the video record start/stop. A sensitive shutter lever makes it easy to half-depress the trigger for focusing and metering.

Use the camera's built-in WiFi feature to download photos to another device without removing the camera from the housing. The WiFi feature is only usable above water within close proximity to the connected device.

Construction
There's no greater assurance than being able to see the o-ring seal. Simply close the two double-passivated stainless steel locking lid snaps, and see the o-ring form a solid black, watertight seal.

Ikelite products are designed, built and tested in the USA. Ikelite uses locally sourced, top-grade materials. Ikelite housings are built by hand and individually tested for fit, function and waterproof integrity. Ikelite backs their products with over 50 years of experience and service within the dive industry.

Flash
An included flash diffuser improves lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used. A built-in flash is effective between 1-3 feet (0.3-0.9m) from the subject in clear conditions. For best results a color correcting filter or external lighting is recommended. External lighting is more powerful and can be placed in a position to virtually eliminate the backscatter - or "snow" - from your underwater images.

The optional AF35 strobe triggers and provides automatic TTL exposure by watching the camera's built-in flash, without the need of fiber optic cords or sensors. Alternatively, two ports are provided for the connection of up to two Ikelite-, SEA&SEA-, or Olympus-type fiber optic cords.

Wide Angle, Macro + Filters
The housing port is designed to accept 3.0-inch diameter color filters, and wide angle or macro options with 67mm threads. Light is absorbed very quickly as it passes through water. A subject will look darker, less colorful and somewhat grainy when viewed through even a few feet of water. The addition of a compatible wide angle accessory expands the camera's field of view underwater, providing the opportunity to get as close as possible to the subject and reduce the amount of water light passes through. The results speak for themselves - photos with the best color, exposure and clarity possible.

Ikelite recommends the W30 Wide Angle Lens or INON UWL-H100 Wide Angle Lens for excellent edge sharpness with minimal vignetting (dark shadows in the corners of the image). Vignetting may be eliminated by either zooming slightly or cropping in post-production.
