If I get a great photograph of a friend I have to share it – now! That is easier than ever thanks to the WiFi connection between my E-PL9 and smartphone. I can even retrieve images from my camera when it is in my bag and post them via the free App. The outstanding image quality has helped my blog and Instagram channel grow.

LEARN TO LOVE LENSES

Do things with your camera your phone can only dream about – from allowing you to capture the tiniest details with close up lenses like the 30mm F3.5 Macro to the most beautiful portraits with the 45mm F1.8 for outstanding bokeh – that out of focus background effect. The right lens also affects the perspective and "flattens" the face for a more flattering effect than the distorted view you see in many phone selfies.

MAKE FLASH YOUR FRIEND

Flashlight often gets a bad reputation but it can really make a good photograph in challenging lighting conditions. Shooting someone in front of a window or against sunlight? Use fill-in flash to caress a subject’s face. Flash can freeze movement when the overall situation is too dark to allow a faster shutter speed or it can highlight a subject in a night scene. The E-PL9 lets you control the amount of flash precisely to get the effect you want and becomes a real photo-saver.
