Backscatter has a deep history in underwater camera service and repair. We became the official west coast Nikonos warranty service center in 1995 and built a world class underwater camera service center for all makes of underwater housings and lighting equipment. Our service team is called on regularly by production crews and professionals to keep their gear working under pressure. We live our motto… we dive, shoot, and service everything we sell.

EXPEDITED & EMERGENCY SERVICE

Nothing is worse than discovering your camera system has issues right before you board a plane. We’ve been there too. If you’ve purchased gear from Backscatter, we will prioritize your repair to the front of the line. Call us immediately when you discover an issue and we’ll do everything possible to get you back in the water with confidence.

WE’RE YOUR ADVOCATE FOR MANUFACTURER WARRANTIES

We’ve used underwater gear long enough to know that sometimes you’ll have an equipment issue that is beyond your control. Our service department has the test facilities and relationships to help verify your warranty claims and get your problem expedited with minimal fuss. It pays to be a Backscatter customer.

NO COST EVALUATIONS

There is never any cost for a comprehensive evaluation and repair quote. Send in your equipment and we will provide a detailed written estimate for your approval.

HELP US EXPEDITE YOUR SERVICE

Our service time typically averages 2-3 weeks, but we will need your help to remain on schedule. To expedite your service please follow these instructions.

SHIPPING YOUR EQUIPMENT IN FOR SERVICE:

1) Fill out the Service Request Form and include it in your shipment.

2) Include proof of purchase if you feel your repair should be performed under warranty.

3) Carefully pack your equipment with extra padding inside a sturdy cardboard box. Be sure to over stuff the box with sufficient packing material.

4) Fill out and tape the Shipping Label to the box.

5) Insure the shipment for the replacement value of the equipment.



ESTIMATES & SCHEDULING:

1) We’ll email you a confirmation when your package is received. Please verify your contact info and service requests and contact us immediately with corrections.

2) Within 48 hours, we will email or call you with a FREE estimate.

3) Most repairs are shipped within 2-3 weeks from your estimate approval date.

RUSH SERVICE:

If your plans require faster service, we do have RUSH options. In addition to the steps above, please call us in advance to coordinate an expedited service. All extra RUSH fees will be quoted when you call.

WARRANTY REPAIR REQUESTS:

If you believe that your repair should be performed under warranty at no charge, please include a copy of your original proof of purchase and detail your problem on the Service Request Form.

SHIPPING FEES:

Our estimates are always free, but you are responsible for all shipping fees.

SERVICE WARRANTY POLICY AND USER RESPONSIBILITY

Never assume serviced items are dive ready! After a service, you must clean and prepare ALL user o-rings as necessary prior to use in water. Backscatter warrants our service and repair work under normal use for a period of 90 days from date of receipt. Since flood damaged equipment can develop unforeseen problems over time, we only warrant the parts we have replaced. The liability of Backscatter is limited only to the work we performed and the repair of this work. If the item is disassembled or modified our warranty will be void.
